Zapier append vs a sheet built for revenue
Zapier is excellent at moving new events into Google Sheets. It is not a revenue importer: Zaps typically append rows going forward, burn tasks per action, and leave MRR math to you. RevenueSheet walks source history APIs once, keeps tabs updated, and builds the dashboard tab.
| Capability | RevenueSheet | Zapier |
|---|---|---|
| Where data lives | Your Google Sheet | Your Google Sheet (via Zaps) |
| Primary job | Storefront sync + MRR tab | General automation across apps |
| Paid pricing (public) | Free; Pro $9/mo; Business $19/mo | Professional starts at $19.99/mo billed annually (750 tasks; checked 2026-10-10) |
| Free tier | Yes: 1 source, manual refresh | Yes: limited tasks / two-step Zaps |
| Full history backfill | Yes | Usually new events only |
| MRR / churn dashboard tab | Yes | No |
| Multi-source storefront sync | Pro / Business | Separate Zaps per source |
| 9,000+ app automations | No | Yes |
| Task metering | License tiers, not per-row tasks | Tasks per successful action |
When Zapier fits better
You need cross-app workflows (Slack alerts, CRM updates, form to sheet) beyond revenue sync, or you only care about appending brand-new events and will maintain formulas yourself.
When RevenueSheet fits better
You need last year’s orders in the sheet, stable columns, refunds that update the original sale, and an MRR dashboard, without designing and metering a Zap per storefront event type.
